which programs could anyone suggest for creating lightsaber effects for a fan film ?

factors being -

easy to use
free ware or easy to get the warez version
will import a variety of file types

i am used to program interfaces such as flash / DW / photoshop.

a mixture of flash and photoshop would be perfect.

Darn, right when some one needs help with something Film related, I miss it.

Anyway, I would recomend Commotion if you really want to do some serious Rotoscoping, it is far better than Aftter Effects, or Ulead.
