well, i took blue myrrdin's advice and checked out the forum there. this is would mr. fixit himself said about the game:

Bottom line = it was fun as hell to play. Like adding many new strategic options to AOK gameplay and throwing in the Star Wars theme. Pretty kick *ss, imho. Not being a star wars fanatic, I still realize that Star Wars alone adds a lot to game sales; mix that with a solid rts engine and new strategic options not available in AOK, and you have a winner.

As for comparissons to AOM; this game will be out far before AOM.

I'm going to play it silly, play it some more, lose some sleep and keep playing it, then play it before i go to work, play it when i come home from work and before i eat, read about it while i eat, then play it again, pause to put a bandage on my tortured wrist, still play it and then pass out at my computerdesk.
o, and when i come to, i'll play it.. again.

i didn't like FF9 nearly as much as i did nr. 7.
I could pick up FF7 any day.
i don't know, the story in 9 was too weird to my liking and i really liked the cyber-punk look of FF7.

this is off-topic, but then again, it's a generic discussion...
i'll make it on-topic to close:

'I'm going to play GB a lot more than FF9 !!'

Personally I think I'll play AgeOfMythologies more then GB. However GB is out way before AOM so YES!

I wish Ensemble studios would of let LEC take the AOM engine instead. In AOM you can call of the powers of the god to do some cool spells like storms and etc. Well just imaging that engine used for StarWars!

Instead of needing to call gods you just tell a Jedi to do that.

no. you explained at length in other threads why you can't use Star Destroyers because they're too big.

which is what forums are for.

None taken. In other threads i explained why you couldn't use one as a playable unit. However, one would make an effective "SuperWeapon" in the form of an orbital bombardment.
