Seriously, I don't know. He was angry when he went back to the valley of the jedi, and no one tried to stop him. His dead father tried to talk him out of it, but to no avail. So, That really is a good question.

I think that seals it. Strenght in the force has nothing to do with midichlorians or any of that. If you have a lightsaber, you have the force. If I went and boutght a lightsaber at Ye Olde Lightsabre Shoppe, I would be a jedi.
No, strength in the force does have to do with medichlorians, but Kyle is a rarity.
Kyle Katarn isn't a Jedi. He was a force sensitive that happened upon the Valley of the Jedi, which then increased his connection to the force tenfold. He hasn't had any Jedi training (apparently he did, but not until after the games), and constantly walks a narrow path between the dark side and the light side, as we see all to often in the games (JK1/MotS...). That's why as Kyle, you are able to use the force for both attack (lightning, grip) and defense (protect, absorb). He's the only force user known of that manages to maintain a balance between light and dark, but as we've seen, it isn't easy for him (heck, if you went down the dark path in JK1, you lopped Jan's head off).
But ultimately, it was Kyle's finding the Valley of the Jedi that tremendously increased his connection to the force.

Kyle used the Vally of the Jedis' power, derr. he says that in the game "i dont need to stay here and spend years of my life retraining" so he just went to the Valley to get the FULL POWER of the force. and thats why Kyle IS a Jedi

In DF2:JediKnight, wasnt he discovered as having real jedi powers? He couldnt have gained them from the Valley, because he had them before he went there, he just brushed up in JK2.

Kyle is a Jedi. Even if he wasn't one before, he learned from a Jedi (Rahn) and another Jedi (Luke).
His "true" level of force is seen in the early levels of MotS. In JK, after he "comes back" to the force, is natural development, because he does not stay in the Valley or use another artificial focus for his power (in JK, he is near the Valley, later in MotS, he's near the Sith temple, both increase his power).
There are precedents for his past uber-power, note Exar Kun's disciple Kyp Durron in the Jedi Academy Trilogy, and Mara Jade's recollections as the Emperor's Hand in the Thrawn trilogy.

If you go to US Marine Corps Boot Camp, you are a US Marine.
One is a state of being, the other is an organization.
A good warrior that can fight from ship to shore is a good warrior who can fight from ship to shore, not a US Marine. Only US Marine Corps Boot Camp Graduates can be Marines.
A British Royal Marine is not a US Marine, and visa versa.
One can only be a JEDI if one attends the JEDI ACADEMY and passes the JEDI TRIALS, hence satisfying the training requirements of that organization. Simply declaring oneself a Marine or Jedi for that matter doesn't make it so, much to the chagrin of those who fail to meet the requirements of said organization.
This kind of ties in with the Luke is no Jedi thing, but....
When the first Jedi appeared, did he have his own Jedi Academy and Trials to go through? Of course not, he probably just called himself a Jedi, got some buddies to join him, and there ya go, the defenders of the galaxy. Jedi.
As time passes, they make the system more complex and rigorous. But, at heart, they're still Jedi, right?
Kyle is like the "first Jedi." He doesn't know much, in the side of Jedi protocol, and whatnot, but there you have it, he's still a Jedi. Same with Luke. You've gotta start somewhere, right? Someone earlier said that Luke is stupid and should train a Padawan. Well, if he trained only one Padawn, then the Jedi would be like the Sith: only two at a time. You've gotta build up your numbers first, before you can even think of those minute details.
Kyle Katarn trained himself, much as luke did, with some help from yoda. Kyle had help from his dead dad and that Rahn guy.. i think thats his name. anyways, thats the basics.
