I need help with the phantom Menace

I just got the game recently and WOW look at that. it dont work....whenever i click on laugh the phantom menace it loads for a few seconds then goes back to windoze
i have a P 700mhz 64MB ram 16MB AGP banshee....win 98 SE
i know its a video problem, i tried installing the patch and it fixed nothing.
is there a banshee or other video(direct 3d) fix for the phantom menace? can anyone help?>

OOOPS i made a huge mistake
i MEANT when i try to LAUNCH the phantom menace it loads then crashes to windows

anyone help?

which direct x version do you have? I haven't tried it with 8.0a, but am going to now to see if it works. I'll report back later.

Yeah, directX 8 is working. Check in your video card configuration. Or in dxdiag.

i got Direct X 8.0
i checked DXDIAG program and nothing has any errors
im using Banshee reference drivers DX7... im guessing there could be a conflict between the DX7 drivers and DX 8??? i donno
sending a help email to lucas arts will take centuries.. =)

One thing you might try is to use the REFERENCE drivers to the Banshee chipset. You can find them at:

With all the video cards out there, it was impossible to test every single card, so we were told to test on CHIPSETS with reference drivers, not the individual cards themselves.
Video card manufacturers often tweak their drivers to squeeze some extra power out of some of their procedures and to take advantage of assorted improvements, but that often screws with compatibility.

i found out the problem
maximum install wont run, minimal install WILL run, good its a pretty good game.

by the way, how many posts do you need in order to be a jedi master?
