So... what was "Bounty Hunter"?

I assume most of you know about "Bounty Hunter" that was apparently being made. That was before we heard about Jedi Knight II. Now I was just curious, what did come of that, anyone know? Was it just to protect themselves? Is that a game that is being made right now?

I'm a little slower on getting info (with the exeption of SWG which I get before the devs ;)) then the rest of you guys ;). So just wondering what happened with that. I noticed we don't have any threads about this, so I assumed (again :)), that this have already been answered.

If everyone here has no idea what I'm talking about I'll gladly explain :).

Thanks in advance :).

Is that true Garindan?! Hmmm something sounds fishy about that ;).

Not that I distrust you :D, but were did you hear that? Why would they be making the sequal to a game that hasn't even come out yet?

Garindan's just kidding with ya. None of us are sure what it is. Could it have been just a secret code for JK2? Maybe it's a game they're planning on developing but not planning on announcing for awhile

I had completly forgot about it with all the JK2 talk!

It was probably a code name for JK2

I you are referring to the fact the Lucasarts registered a domain name for Bounty Hunter...then personally I am hoping it is a new FPS title for PC. This has been discussed at www.Obi-Wankenobi.net) (http://www.Obi-Wankenobi.net) forums in the past month or so. Here's a link to the thread...

http://www.obi-wankenobi.net/forums/Forum19/HTML/000327.html)

Just in case anyone is interested, though, there are two more Bounty Hunter titles being made at the moment, which are unrelated to Star Wars.

One is called Intergalactic Bounty Hunter, to be published by Pan Interactive, which at the moment I'm not sure about.

The other game, called Bounty Hunter is being developed by Warthog, to be published by Crave Entertainment. It looks extremely promising, and has a Star Warsy feel to it. It was originally going to be just a console title, but they've since announced that it will be for the PC as well. Here's a link to an interview with the developer...
http://www.stomped.com/published/jcal987692720_1_1.html)

And here's a pic from that interview...

And here's the Warthog site...

As I said, it looks very promising.

If Lucasarts are considering developing a Star Wars: Bounty Hunter title, then they will definitely have some competition. ;)

I had forgot that they registered it
Then its not a code name
It could be a game or only that they registered the name because they may eventually need it and Warthog was going to use it

I'm still hoping it will be a future PC release, maybe as a multiplayer Counterstrike-like game.

Who knows, it may go the way of Rebel Agent. Just another title that never made it to market.

Oh and now there is an UnrealWarfare Engine based game which will play like our hypothetical Star Wars : Bounty Hunter.

Computer and Video Games reports that Virgin Interactive's Maelstrom (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/story.cfm?sid=2792) will feature 3d space combat, ground-based First Person Shooting, and bounty hunting, all in the glorious UnrealWarfare engine. (Thanks Blue (http://www.bluesnews.com).)

If LEC is going to do Bounty Hunter they've got some real competition.

Yeah, Maelstrom looks like it could be lots of fun. It was going to be console only, but now they're saying it's going to be available for the PC!

I think this art pretty much sums the game up...

The visuals in the game are looking impressive, too. I like the shot of the cockpit...because it has a lot of little hidden jokes and homages in it...

Well, you might have to brighten that pic, because you can't see what's written on the cockpit glass very well...it says Impact Resistant :D

This game does sound a bit similar to the Warthog Bounty Hunter title, in that you can fly your space craft, and then get inside the bigger ships to cause some havoc on foot.

I'll be watching the development of this game with interest.

EDIT: had to change the links...bah!
