If I understand it correctly the beta testing is going to be split up into at least 2 parts. In the first part it will be just a hand picked few people who will be involved. The later part(s) will include randomly picked people from the community.
4 parts...
details where in the last faq...
yeah i saw... i personaly think that the first stage will be the developers and helpers.
second will be some guys who are special of sony or maybe even GL himself :D...
third is the most famous guys of the main forums on the official site
and last will be all guys who can get theyre hands on the beta..
but this is what i think of it :(

I would be willing to bet, since you have to use your station ID and PW to sign up, that they will pick betatesters from current Station hosted games subscribers.
i.e. Everquest, Tanterus etc.
May be wrong, just speculation.
