It hasn't been decided yet... but to give Mr. Paragon and the senators/ future candidates some aid, this thread should sort it out by popular opinion.

Vote here, and post here :) .

I say 2.5 months (2 and a half months!)

I chose a year. They aonly meet every other week, so a year is like 27 meetings. Thats not that many. Besides, its not like nothing will be changed for a year. There will probably be expansion long before a year is up.

No, real senaors serve for 6 years, and they meet alot more than once every other week, or even once every week.

Also, like i said, the senate will probably expand very soon, with the game coming out and all, so more people will have a chance to make it. Also, people can be kicked off the senate, and then we would need another election, so its not like the senate can't change for an entire year.

I was only joking there, TieDef.

It's turning into a tie between 4 months and a year. Guess we'll have to flip a coin.

I'd say 3 months, not the planned 6, just because we want everyone to get a chance, including myself :D So, I would like them to be about 3 months, if that is ok with everyone else :p

I think the senate should be increased to about 20 people. There a lot of members here, and more will come when the game is released . It maybe a good idea for that . Am I the only one that thinks this?

What, that would be a MAJOR pain to go through all of this every 3 months. Besides, thats only 6 meetings or so, which really isn't fair for people who are on the senate.

Yes. More members will be added in time, but 20 would be too many. Nothing would ever get done, everyone would argue to much. Plus, most of the members would just sit there and do nothing while people who actually had something to say did things. Also, imagine getting 20 people (from around the world) together at the same time. That would be too much.

However, i think that maybe upping the number to 10 or so would be acceptable in a month or 2 if the game is popular and we get lots more members.

Four months seems like the bare minimum to me too..
Six will probably turn out to be the most practical..

6 months will be best yeah as Leon said.

A year is way too long. A lot can happen in one year. The whole community can change in a year. This forum isn't even half a year old, and look how much we changed since the beginning.

But you don't want it to be too short too. When you're a new senator you need to settle between the others first. You'll need to learn the ways of the force ... uhm ... senate before you're fully adapted.

6 months, no more, no less

I think you all are aiming a bit too long personally. If you want a senate that continues to gain interest, you need to make the terms shorter. I personally wouldn't go above one month. Why? A month is long enough to give everyone a chance to participate and then the good Senators will get re-elected while the not-so-good ones are replaced with new ones.

If you have anything above a month... some people will disappear, lose interest, etc - all while new people are looking to get involved.

Just my two cents! :luke:

If we are going for 1-2 months, we'll have to make the voting process a lot shorter... It's taking way too long as it is.

Agreed. The voting process is kinda hard on the boards. Why not setup http://senate.galacticbattles.com) to list the current sentaors and hold voting for the next month?

Just a thought... :thrawn2:

I think a number like 8 months would be better. I should have gone in the voting in the first place. I love to debate.

The terms chould be long enough to promote stability, but short enough so that the Senators won't become lazy, or the patrons bored.
