I think they are good, but there's already a swearing filter.. so what would be the point of the swearing rules

Not everything is filtered ... If I wanted I could make Leon out for everything I wanted and it wouldn't be filtered. Why? Because the filter doesn't know dutch ... (don't worry Leon, I won't) And ofcourse there are other ways of s w e a r i n g

I think the rules are clear and correct. If your a bit sane in the membrane it isn't hard to follow those rules.

I don't like the whole "stealing" thing. If I want to use someones Avatar I will. The polite thing to do would be to ask first but you shouldn't make it a rule.

No, that's not porn, Rogue15.

Kvan, we will only enforce the stealing penalties if the "victim" complains about you stealing something from him. So, you can still use someone else's avatar if he agrees to it.

I would just like to know if you could explane flawing a little bit more. What if someone says something that the other person takes offense by would that still be flawing???

Also i just wanted to say that the rules look great, and i am glad to see them up!!!

But anyway, it's just a small warning for first-timers, there's nothing to worry about.

In fact, the whole rules could be resumed as "Behave yourselves and everything will be fine", but we knew this wouldn't be enough :)

Umm, okay when you said no insulting people, does that include saying something to them when they are being over-the-top in their posts, are insulting other people, and using profanity? How do you view this kind of confrontation?

Something that jump-started their brains, methinks... ;) Anyways, Darktrooper, you work right? What would your workplace be like if there were no rules? I would become a total mess... which these forums where threatening to become.

When people were confronted by mods, they would say "i didn't know this was allowed", etc. With this list, everyone can find out what is appropriate, and what is not. They will have no excuses...:evil!:

I have a question about the new Community Policies.

I would love to know the answer to this. Also, I was not sure which board to place this under since it concerns itself with the GB Community.

This is a quote from the first rule of the new policies.

__________________________________________________ __

1. You cannot, in any way, insult (or "flame") someone else on the board. People may not be insulted just because their opinion differs from your own. Flaming includes calling people names, insulting them in any way or saying offensive things to them.

__________________________________________________ __

Before I ask I want to say I agree in principle with this but here is my question.

Who gets to determine what an insult, or flame is? I mean if I write something and someone disagrees with me and calls me, "Bantha Fodder" is that an insult? Or if they simply say, "you have no idea what you are talking about." Is that an insult?
What if someone in jest pokes fun at me, is that person warned or deleted for two such actions?

This seems a bit, no quite a bit subjective and could make one post in a sense with a bit of concern.

So, flame away (no, no you can't do that). So, encourage me with your response! ;)

Please share what this means.

Thanks

What's more worrying is that we are not allowed to "chat"

To Discuss: To talk about a subject in detail.
To Chat: To talk in a light, familiar way. Informal talk

Chatting is considered spamming and will be dealt with accordingly.

incidentally you should probably have noted at the bottom of the post
;)

You may leave any comments in the Feedback forum. Be aware that the mods are reserving themselves the right to modify the policies as long as there is a need to do so. Thank you for your time.

Forum rules are more of a sort of guide than set rules......if you think what your typing is 'flaming' (if it is tended in insult the recipatent) it proberly is.....re-write your post.....and if everyone does this, everything should go smoothly :)

I will submit it there.

Thanks again.

OK, update/change of Mind here. If I repost and they move it, it will be there twice.

I wait till an Admin either moves it or leaves it.

we should be able to unsult people, why restrict our speach to satisfy a few people, or are we to lie because it is politically incorrect we should be allowed to swear because they are just words used to describe something with strong emotion.
the moderators have consulted between themselfs and over all the rules arnt bad at all but it is us who they should of talked to!!

Yoink. This goes here. :)

Here are some answers,

Who gets to determine what an insult, or flame is?

The mods will be the deciding factor in determining if something is considered flaming.

What's more worrying is that we are not allowed to "chat"
What the rules are getting at is that you can't start threads such as, "bye guys. I'm going to bed." etc....

Forum rules are more of a sort of guide than set rules......if you think what your typing is 'flaming' (if it is tended in insult the recipatent) it proberly is.....re-write your post.....and if everyone does this, everything should go smoothly

So true. If you think it's borderline flaming, play it safe and don't post it.

we should be able to unsult people, why restrict our speach to satisfy a few people, or are we to lie because it is politically incorrect we should be allowed to swear because they are just words used to describe something with strong emotion.
the moderators have consulted between themselfs and over all the rules arnt bad at all but it is us who they should of talked to!!

*sigh*

1. Why should you be able to insult people? No good ever comes from insulting people.

2.How does that possibly cause you to lie? I can tell the truth without cussing. You can to.

3.Why not keep everyone happy and restrict cussing? Is cussing so much a part of your vocab that you can't live without it? No, it's not.

4.Swears are not words used to describe something with strong emotion. They are words used to circumvent the describing of something with strong emotion. "Why explain yourself when you can just cuss "

5. If we tried getting everyones input they would have never been finished because everyone wants things a different way. The way we chose is a way that will keep everyone here civil to each other and keep the forms inviting to new people.

I can live with that. Cussing is not a part of my vocabulary, especially not on forums.

Some people can't even spell cuss words right :p
