A couple of things I've read say that the final 3 movies will never be made. Does anyone have any input on this?

I also heard this. So far Lucas has said:
There will be 6 movies total.
There will be 9 movies total.
There will be 12 movies total.
6 is the latest, but I'm crossing my fingers for 12. ;)

Right before he made TPM he said Star Wars was eventually going to consist of nine movies. Half way through TPM he decided to drop the last three. They will not be made, thankfully. I don't know about you guys but I don't want someone else filling Lukes, Leias, and Hans shoes.

It wouldnt be like that though. It would probably have been their children or something...or another set of characters.

well, luke went to the dark side in the Dark Empire comics. and GL could still use the org actors, they would be older in the stories also...

Harrison Ford said hed never play Han Solo again. Mark Hammil these days looks too fat, and Carrie Fisher looks too old. It doesnt look too good for the original cast does it.

Hamill could still do another SW movie, he doesn't look too old. So could Harrison Ford, but he doesn't wanna (anyone know why?).
I guess it kinda depends where you wanna set the movies? What would the global plot be? The global plot of the original trilogy was this Rebellion against the Empire. The global plot of the prequels (so far a little on the weak side) is, I guess, the building up of the Galactic Empire headed by (Sidious)/Palpatine (<-Please note the parenthesis, I'm guessing that Sid=Palpy).
But what would be the global plot of the sequel trilogy? The overtaking of Coruscant? They'd kinda have to follow the books. They could have some pretty epic battles. The Battle of Coruscant I'd like to see in particular. AT-ATs and AT-STs walk the streets of the city, while A-Wings (& E-Wings) battle TIEs in the skies!

I reckon the Thrawn trilogy would be perfect the third trilogy :)

He's 57 years old if I'm not mistaken? And he still have to release episode 2-3! Assuming that Episode 3 will be out by 2005, he'll be 61! Again, assuming that each following episode would take three years to do, then he would be 70 years old by Episode 9's release!

Kinda old, huh? Besides, he said that as the rest of the prequel trilogy unfold, we'll see how Star Wars really is the telling of Anakin Skywalker's tale. Anakin died in RotJ, so There won't be any other trilogies.

And it would look farfetched, IMHO.

Harrison hated his roll so much that he asked George to kill Han off the end of RotJ. Luckily, he loves playing Indiana Jones, And the next one already has scripts being written. :)

Ya I sorta wondered why Yoda didn't feel a disurbance in the force at the funeral. Didn't Yoda say something about the darkside being hard to penetrate or something? Oh well, I guess it's just a story anway, so it might sacrifice a detail or two for the sake of the storyline.

Hmmmm.....I have an idea to solve the actor problem, by the time 2005 roles around 3D tech should be quite good, they could just take the orginal trilogy and make CGI models of 'em!

The voices are a little harder to solve I suppose, but since the charactors would be older I guess they might not have as much trouble.

Maybe in some years actors wont be needed at all! But I doubt it
