Re-skinning Question...

I'm reskinning/remodeling heads for KOTOR, and I had a question about hands.

I noticed that characters usually have gloves on, but I don't know if this is always the case. In my reskinning I've changed the facial skintone, and for the sake of aesthetics, I wondered if characters' hands are ever exposed so I could recolour their skin too, if necessary.

In short, is skin ever exposed anywhere else on a body aside from the head?

From what I've gathered, the heads are the only truly unique parts of a character; bodies are generic for each sex, and [default] clothing is only dependent on class. (In reference to a game without any mods installed.) So it could be that skintone is null for any other part of a character aside from the head. If someone could confirm or deny this, it would be greatly appreciated. :)

Apologies if this seems a little OCD. :xp: I just like consistency.
And I'm totally new to modding, so any help or additional tips people have to offer would be warmly welcomed.

Yes, skin is exposed in a lot of cases depending on model and clothing (or lack thereof). The underwear and default clothes skins will be what you want to look at (first two model columns in appearance.2da).

Yeah, I realized that later today. Oopsy, dumb question...
But I wasn't exactly having my characters run around in their underwear, so it didn't occur to me right away that skin is definitely exposed there, haha. I was paying attention mostly to armor and default clothing. Then again, doesn't Carth lack gloves...? Bah. Whatever. I'm learning.

Thanks for replying! I'll be sure to take your advice.

And sorry for being such a newbie. :eyes3:

Have a read through some of the tutorials. They'll give you some useful tips for skinning.

For NPCs some have skin exposed, but I believe for all PC gear they always have gloves, due to not knowing in advance who will be using it. :)

Yup, I've been reading tutorials and generally exploring and experimenting. :)
