This article was posted on starwars.com on September 30.
If you are one of the many who purchased Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for your Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, get ready to get even more playtime out of your game. LucasArts is proud to announce that players will soon be able to extend their game with two rounds of downloadable content that will soon be available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace.

The first of these two packs will introduce the ability to play the game as some of your favorite characters from the Star Wars universe. Whether you enjoy the newcomers like Kit Fisto and Ki-Adi-Mundi, or you prefer to jump back to the classics like Obi-Wan Kenobi and the beloved Luke Skywalker, players have the option to pick a new hero for the game.

Later this year, the second pack of content will be distributed, this time giving Starkiller himself an entirely new mission to master. Heading to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, The Apprentice seeks to discover the truth about his father -- but on the way must confront his own past. In this new area, the player will truly have their skills tested with the barrage of enemies they must face.

The LucasArts team is currently developing this content internally. Though the release date and pricing are still to be determined, keep an eye on the official website for more updates.

So basically we have to pay for things you can already do on other consoles. ;x

Ok I give up.... All the complaining and this is all we get. C'mon Lucas give me a break here. I have been anticipating this game for so long, make something worth while. And I swear if those characters are just skins and not new animations and force powers. If Luke shoots lightning I might die.

The Jedi Temple is actually surprisingly fun on the PS2 version, way better than Felucia, for example. But it's way shorter too - all the three visits you pay there.

I totally agree there... I wish we could get EVERY mission that the Wii and PS2 got that the 360 and PS3 didn't. But having to pay? That's very lame.

All this stuff should have been in the game in the first place. TFU is a good game but it was lacking in content.

I agree: the extra levels are all I'm interested in. But I'm a little concerned as far as that goes as I've heard that there will be but one temple mission rather than three, and the Sith holocron gatekeeper bosses will not be in it. Is any of this true? I really hope it's complete, with everything the PS2 and Wii versions contain.

What I'd also like to see released is an additional Cloud City level like the one in the PS2 and Wii versions, featuring Lobot and everyone else.

What would have been better is instead of playing as the different characters, you can wear their outfits with Starkiller's face.

^ My thoughts exactly, it doesn't really appeal to me to play through the game as Luke or Mace zapping Jedi etc.

Maybe it's cause I'm a bit too much of a SW geek/purist...whatever, more costumes would have been nice, I usually stick with his cool Jungle Combat one, sexy!

This is an unanswerable question. They're making a whole new Jedi Temple level, not taking the PS2 one and throwing some DMM into it.

If you refer to the one to be contained in the next-gen console downloadable content, it is supposed to be the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.

:swear:

I wonder might this be a 'test run' of the dlc concept? Start with a little new content, then step it up in another pack if that is successful? After all, there's no point going to the trouble of adding a lot of new content at the cost of a lot of work, if no-one will take it...

Well, maybe it's 'I'm hoping!' :D

So will they be in it or not? I've heard that they will not make the cut, and that the only boss you will face will be Kento Marek.

Man, for as superior as the next-gen version of this game is as far as graphics, physics, story and character interaction go, we sure did get jibbed as far as content goes (as if we didn't already know that). But we're still getting jibbed even as they release portions of the extra content. :(

I still think that the developer will hold certain things back - that they'll wait to see how successful this round of DLC is before putting time, money and effort into a bigger project.

Aye. We already get to fight him on Kashyyk. If that is all we get, it will be truly pathetic. I would prefer to see that Desolous chap or the other one - Phobos.

I really don't want to fight the same boss twice. It just seems...lazy.

I was under the impression that we were only getting one level? If so, I would have preferred Desolous or Phobos.

If we are getting multiple Temple levels, then fine. But I still agree that having Kento as a boss twice is laziness. And, as you say, boring.

Well, if what they're releasing this time around is so limited then of course they're setting themselves up for total failure!

Also, remember that this is the PS3/360 version we're talking about, and we do not get to fight Kento on Kashyyyk in that version. So making him the boss in the Jedi Temple really isn't all that bad since it won't be redundant like it is in the PS2/Wii version.

But making Kento the only boss, in lieu of Phobos and Desolous, is an entirely different story...

I'm inclined to agree that this will be met with a degree of hostility due to a lack of scope. Hopefully the developer will show the same attention to gamer's opinions that they (say they) did in making this, and either assure us of a better one or add to it before it comes out.

On that point - anyone got a release date yet?

I meant that we already fight him in the prologue on the next-gens.:)

I would prefer a Jedi Temple level that isn't crawling with stormtroopers. Instead, it would be just be exploring it, surveying the ruins, maybe getting a dark vision or two along the way, eventually there would be a sequence similar to the cave at Dagobah, which becomes a boss fight. At this point, Starkiller would have some internal conflict, the dark path Vader laid out for him versus his developing conscience, so the phantom could be a dark version of himself. Kento attempting to contact him here would fit with this conflict. He could make multiple attempts to contact Starkiller before actually succeeding.

Does anyone have any good quality, preferrably hi-res, front/back/left/right screenshots of the TFU Sion? I've found the ones here (http://www.giantbomb.com/star-wars-the-force-unleashed/61-20626/img_1077/51-815155/?offset=250), but the lighting and quality isn't great.
