Hello, boys and girls.

I do hope this is the right forum in which to ask for info on how to do things. Forgive me but I'm totally new to this forum and indeed new to modding KotoR.

What I want to do is fairly simple, in its overall aim, but I need a little help to get started.

Ok, I'm playing TSL and I'd very much like to add some extra items(some of them custom BTW) to the footlocker in the PC's quarters aboard the Harbinger. Now, I'm not going to sit here and ask such an open-ended question as "how do I do that?" because I know that would be a waste of everybody's time, given that there are tutorials on this. I know too, from reading them, that there's a scriptless method which one can use more easily if the container(in this case, a footlocker) is unique.

Rather I need a little help getting started with stage 1 - extracting the footlocker. I don't want to spawn a new one - the locker that's already present in the room should suffice, and that'll make things easier, since I won't need to worry about writing a script to spawn it, nor deal with x,y,z locations and orientation. The present footlocker will be fine.

But the problem is that I can't seem to find it. I have opened up KotoR Tool, and found the right module - 152HAR_s.rim - and I believe that the "blueprint, placeables" is the right place to start. Trouble is, I can find no footlockers, unique or otherwise, in the list.

Can anyone help me here? Am I looking in the right place, for starters, and indeed, does anyone know if this footlocker might be unique? It certainly contains a unique item(the PC armband). If it IS unique, changing its contents ought to be simple enough... if it isn't, then I need to find out how to spawn a unique one(there's a tute on creating your own, which I read) in its place. Reckon I can manage that, probably.

But to begin with, I need to find this particular footlocker. Can anyone help with that?

Many thanks.

You're best bet is to download the Whereami Armband, (http://www.starwarsknights.com/mtools/whereami206.zip) add it to your inventory, obviously, and stand next to the footlocker and activate it, it will give you the tag of the footlocker and so you can then search for it in KoTOR Tool.

<snip>

As a warning you need to make sure the locker you put the items in is unique, as if it is not all over the Harbinger (and perhaps Peragus) you will get the items you put in that locker.

As such you may find this thread helpful; http://www.lucasforums.com/showpost.php?p=2458470&postcount=15)

IRRC that locker is not unique, so you may need a script to place items there... as such you may find a review of this mod helpful; http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/file/Exile_Item_Pack;57068)

Stream is also correct that finding co-ordinates you will need the whereami armband.

I hope that helps :)

Yep, you were looking in the right place, it's strange you can't find it. See this screenshot (http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/8114/k2kthelpup8.jpg), it should point you toward the right direction :]

As for editing it without finding yourself getting "PC armbands" in 70% of the game's footlockers, you can use a script, but you can also use some RIM editing.

To do this, use the ERF/RIM Editor (the last one of the "Generic Modding Tools" listed here (http://www.starwarsknights.com/tools.php#gmt)).
First create a backup of 152HAR_s.rim (in Modules\, just in case one day you're bored with your mod and want to restore the original file without having to reinstall the whole game), then open this file using the Editor, use the "Add resource" function to add your customized g_tresmillow007.utp and answer Yes when you'll be warned that you're going to overwrite a file.

Open a saved game *before* entering 152HAR_s, and voilà :]
