Source (http://www.kotaku.com.au/games/2008/05/terrorists_using_fallout_3_concept_art.html)

In an odd move, SITE, a group which monitor extremist websites, has managed to link Fallout 3 to international terrorism.

A group of Islamists have apparently posted a computer generated image of Washington D.C. in the aftermath of a nuclear attack on a forum somewhere. The image has been supplied by SITE itself:

I wonder if Bethesda will send in the suits seeing as how this is from their concept art library for Fallout 3.

The website of Craig Mullins, the artist, has actually gone down (http://www.goodbrush.com/) which makes this all the more surreal. Provided that it's not just an unfortunate coincidence, it looks like both Mr. Mullins and Bethesda Softworks will be added to the axis of evil soon enough...

Right...

What does that make Command and Conquer Red Alert where you can actually destroy it YOURSELF?
Man oh man...what does it have to take until games become a respected medium without people like the ones from this site shouting about. :(

Although, the fact that they didn't actually release the image themselves makes it worse....

Yes, there are a lot of games that have the same setting or something similar to Fallout 3. I find this to be absurd, to say the least.

I don't think anyone's connecting anything anywhere. News.com.au should have posted the source of the image, but you can't really blame them because they shouldn't have bothered looking for it: for all an average person could know, it came from a terrorist skilled in a 3D modelling program!

Nobody is at fault here: the terrorists most probably thought it was a cool image, SITE thought it was sensational and News.com.au just continued the chain. It's good that someone found it out to be the Fallout 3 concept art.

Mullins must probably be facing inquiry or investigation or something, regardless, I do not believe this a matter to be concerned about as a gamer. :p

Only when games become nuclear weapons will we ever have to worry about games with concept art like this. :xp:

First Rachel Ray (http://chattahbox.com/entertainment/2008/05/29/dunkin-donuts-pulls-rachel-ray-ad-due-to-terrorism-concerns/), now Bethesda.

:( I knew there was something funny about her. She never should have left the Food Network; syndication got her hooked up with a bad crowd.

It is a game. If the extremist want to use concept art from a video game, so be it. As to Washington being destroyed, how is that any different from “Mercenaries” destroying North Korea?

Rachel had it coming and is obviously a terrorist, she was making freaking Baba Ganoush and Tabouli how much more proof does the government need? Hell, I even heard she made gefüllt squab and I sure don't need to tell you what that means.

Good thing the government is tracking all the people whom are listening to Keith Olbermann (suggesting everyone whom supports terrorists like Rachel boycott Dunkin Donuts). This could cause the good people of Dunkin Donuts serious problems if terrorists make good on this assault on common decency of the US donut.
