What kind of unit deaths do you want to see?

I would like to see the AT-ATs smoke, tip and make that cool falling noise instead of just falling and dissapearing like some games outthere. Also I want a stop movement button so when the snowspeeders attack with their cables if your paying attention you could stop your AT-Ats andsave them from tipping.
Of course they could not move anymore but what a great gun tower you would have.

Does anyone know if the dead units are going to hang around smoldering for a fewor are they just going to vanish like in Force Commander?

T.I.E., i'm not sure if the snowspeeders will actually circle around the AT-At's.. of course that's the logical way of doing it, but they might also just fire lasers and cause bonus damage against ATAT's. so your idea is great, but it may not be possible because of the way they handle it.
The ATAT's smoking fall seems a given, and you know how they handle the disappearing in AOK, so expect that here too.

I like to survey the carnage I caused or have been caused, thats a huge part of the game for me. As for the snowspeeders flying around, that would be a huge eye opener if they could get them to circle around like in the movies. You are probably right on them just firing blasters, circling would be a big pain if they had 50 speeders circling......what a mess.

I also want the TIE fighter to break apart wing to wing........and Jedi to just vanish leaving their outfit behind.

Great ideas... if they haven't done that up 'til now, they are in for a lot of new graphics if they want to.. :D

Total Annihilation was an RTS where destroyed robots left behind a metal mess. It might be possible to do it in the AOK engine, but units can be seen lying on the ground long enough if you ask mee.. it takes literally minutes to let all the carnage clear away..

If they do, there's a good chance they'll go for the 'easy' unit-deaths and won't incorporate some of the nice stuff you thought of.

Aircraft will most likely simply blow up. The screenshots in PC Gamer showed several air-explosion (pretty nice ones too), while there were air-units on screen. Maybe some debris can be seen falling, but we have nothing to compare it with, since AOK didn't have air-units. (and you couldn't shoot diwn the birds...bummer)

Yep, the speeders are like airborn mech killers, they do heavy damage to mechs, unlike other fighters. So, i'd doubt it if we saw them circling the AT-AT, since they are good against all mechs, not just AT-ATs.

What if the snowspeeders main attack was blasters and their secondary fire was a tow cable? if you select a snowspeeder and then just told it to attack a mech then it would use blasters but if you click tow cable then told it to attack an AT-AT(it just wouldnt do anything if oyu told it to attack anything else with a tow cable.) it would use the tow cable and you would see it circling it....

yeah killing birds was fun, but since when does an eagle explode in a massive firball by juts a spear that was wired.

TA wrekage was cool and it provided tactical (dis)advantages being you could get metal or in some cases energy and for base defense it was nice killing the fronline so you could use thre corpes as a barricade.

Watching troops get stomped by an AT-AT would be cool.........squish. That would be some poor AI on the part of the squished....I dont think I would stand under a huge walking fortress, and I hope my troops dont either.

Ahhhhh Mannnnn they are not going to have a blocking effect are they? Where one stupid peon guy can block your vehicles while they attack a further oppent without being able to close the range because some thing is in its way. Or they go around when they could easily crush it. I hope they dont do either one.

WOHO! A thread about death and carnage! Your my kind of poster T.I.E (it pisses me off to type the "." in your name though :D). Anyway, I hope your able to step on enemy (or critter) units! I also hope vehicles have similar deaths to their movie counter parts.

Cool Ideas :atat: The ATATs should have deflectable armour against snow speeders like in the movie and also the should alot of blood in the mens death and Ships should be able to cause damage when they crash into buildings and units like the A wing that smashes into the Super Star Destroyer.:band:  :D :o

Well Kvan I am sorry for the trouble with my name but it kinda adds alittle pizzaz. Crushing things would be awesome in the game but it might ruin the purity of killing them with big weapons
and sound effects that go with it.

I think that would be a great idea Boba Fat about the crash damage...that would be pretty sweet. I think the AT-AT is already a monstrosity and will probably cost some good resources to field. Very well spent resources with alittle air cover from my all favorite TIEs.

I'm glad you can't crush troops with vehicles, it got really annoying in RA2, even though the AI rarely ever thought of running me over rather than trying to fight.

Anyways, i think that LEC tries to stay away from blood and carnage, and i, for one, am glad.

Yea it is kind of anoying when an unknowing harvester comes along right when you send your spys in to take their resources. That always happened to me when I first got the game.

All carnage blood thirsty lust for the game aside, I for one am thankfull someone is staying true to the saga. Very rarely in the movies was there blood and gore....I think the arm loped off and luke getting a boo boo on cloud city oh yeah and the wampa dude tossing luke like a rag doll, but hey it beats the garbage being created today.

I think if you want blood play Quake or something but hey I want my Star Wars like I remember playing with the action figures in the 80's......woooooohoooooo!!!!!!

You must have had some school!
Personally, I think if they put that gore into it why not have units be able to crush other units? It's realistic. People got stepped on by ATAT's before. And getting stepped on usually there is blood.

That would be cool I think but honestly now, would an AT-AT really be able to smush troops who are able to still walk? It is more feasible on tanks and wheeled vehicles that can turn on a dime but the imperial vehicles now way.

ATAT's have smashed troops before. I'm sure the troops are faster then an ATAT so it would rarely happen.
To Rommel...Wussy :D
Has anyone played any of the WoD games? They got some real interesting stuff (meaning gross to Rommel)

What does WoD stand for, i've never heard of it.

Anyways, you forgot about that tasty piece of tauntaun meat that the Wampa is eating. I don't know if that counts as gore though, it's jsut meat.

BTW, anyone ever notice that the guys arm seems hollow when it gets cut off, or at least doesn't have a bone.

AT-AT's have a maximum speed of 40 miles per hour, so troops are way slower. AND I'M NOT A WUSSY! :p

I just gotta clear things up:

ATAT's can go 60 kilometers per hour, not forty. (although they could go forty if they wanted to :D)

No troop can run that fast, so it is very plausible tht they could crush ground units.

How fast can AT-ST's go wise one?

You can actually see that in ESB. There's a shot where an ATST walks (more: runs) in front of an ATAT. You see that he's about one and a half times as fast, which leaves us with a speed of....90 kms/hours.. or something like that.

yeah too bad. When I first saw At-Pts (which was about when the Zhan books came out) I thought they were suposed to be better than At- Sts. By the way, I noticed something strang in this screenshot. There is a pre-At-At and a pre At-St. Wierd.

I'm looking at it right now. if i'm not mistaken, that's the AT-PT. it has a transparent cockpit from the looks of it. so in terms of strength, you'd have that as the lowest, then ATST, then ATAT. pretty straight-forward.

Yeah, they are a All-Terrain Personal Transports, so they are much smaller and weaker than both the ATAT and ATST. Besides, thats how it was in FoCom, i hope they are in GB too.

BTW, i get my info from countless nights of reading STar Wars Novels and the Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels.
