Ive written another tutorial.

It teaches how to make a custom robe with a new texture without overwriting anything.

I know most on this site know how to do this so this is mainly for people new to modding.

when ever I open it in word it's a grey screen

Umm, when I'm editing the file GIMP says it can't open .uti files... Help?

GIMP is used to skin, not read GFF (.uti, .utc, .utp, etc.) files.

Now, what you want is a GFF editor to edit the .uti file. A few good ones can be found here: http://lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=143421&highlight=GFF)
