The forget to mention that alot of those accounts are duplicates of the same player... and then theres all the gold farmers. So a more correct figure is probly something like 4mil...

Youd have to actually play the game for a length of time just see how badly the game is run, and how boring it gets.

Heck, even with its lag, and the random bugs, lotro is more fun than warcrack.

Will there be a console version of StarCraft II?

StarCraft II is being developed for the PC. We have no current plans to bring the game to any console platform. Suh-weet! Looks like Starcraft II will be a PC-exclusive. After not getting any love from BioWare for Mass Effect and LucasArts for The Force Unleashed it's nice to know there is at least one game I'm interested in playing that will be available for PC. :D

3:00 - FMV sequence in a spaceship - looks Terran - zooming in on a metal door - door opening - reveals a guy with a cigar in chains - prisoner - door shuts behind him - there's so much bass the room is shaking - guy steps into some kind of metallic devicce - legs are strapped in - guy rising toward ceiling - Korean text on screen got people very excited - another part of the machine is dropping metal arms on him - machine whirring - applying armor to his torso - extremly detailed visuals here - now guy is strapping on gloves - armor is molding together - seems like a Terran marine - rockets turn on - zerg now onscreen - Marine delivers a line - StarCraft 2 officially announced. [link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByMnCKQFUnQ)])

StarCraft 2 will be an RTS largely in the same vein as its predecessor. The game will feature the same three races: Protoss, Zerg, and Terran. Action will unfold on the same type of 2D plane as before, with multitiered maps that ground units must use ramps to move between. Graphics have been updated significantly, many new units added, and some old units removed. Blizzard was unwilling to divulge much about how the Zerg and Terran forces have changed, but shed some light on the new developments for the Protoss. Story specifics are still being kept under wraps, though from the concept art it seems Kerrigan will somehow be involved. The game will release "when it's done" for PC and Mac only. It's currently in pre-alpha stages of development, and has been in production at Blizzard since the release of WarCraft 3: The Frozen Throne in 2003. [link (http://www.starcraft2.com/)])

Ah, finally! Starcraft is back!

Bah, I've been playing WC3 a lot lately and apparently "Build More Farms/Burrows" mixed up with the Pylon message.

Then again, I haven't played any game without totally borked sound in ~6 months, so I don't even know if that's how it goes :*(. I really need to get unlazy and fix my sound.

Starcraft 2... if they don't get the balacing right it will be a desaster and people (especially Koreans) will stick to starcraft 1.

I mean, Starcraft Broodwar is the best balanced RTS game EVER! Not even Warcraft has reached that so far...

Who else thinks people will be pissed of because of the balancing when the game is released?

No way in this universe that the current blizzard people will get starcraft 2 correct. As someone on a fansite said once "it will be Warcraft 3 in space". I don't want it. Have 1 with brood war.

Actually Warcraft 3 is Starcraft in the middle ages and 3D graphics, so Starcraft 2 can never be a rip off of WC3.

Though graphics aren't the primary attraction of a game like this it still looked a bit old judging by the screenshots. Didn't look all that different from SC/Brood War, only higher resolution and a bit more crispy. You'd think they could come up with some better improvements in 10 years (like 3D camera that you can rotate freely to view battles from different angles, zoom in/out etc...).

Remains to see if the gameplay is good enough to make up for it. Starcraft was the only RTS I've played for any length of time. :)

Ah, very nice. The screenshots I saw didn't indicate that since they were all from the same camera angle. Good to know they've improved things further. :) The game does look a whole lot like Starcraft 1 with better graphics and some new units, though I suppose it might not be a good idea to change a winning concept too much.

Yeah, it's actually wise of them n ot to introduce new races...Starcraft has cult status and the worst thing they can do it ruin it with an unbalanced sequel.

No need to worry, as you can see in the link above the good old Battlecruisers are still there and I've also seen the gameplay video and am pleased to say that they still have the Yamato Gun. :devburn:
Now, as for the Carriers, I don't know, but I hope they haven't been removed from the game. I've heard that the Protoss will have a Mothership unit, though.

The Mothership is the massive ship in the third and fourth gameplay trailers posted by LIAMYD, and from what I saw it's an uber-unit, but definitely not a Carrier.

I personally hope they don't have heroes. Campaign heroes would be fine, but heroes for multiplayer would make the game a WC3 clone, IMHO.

In one of the previews I've read on Gamespy, they mention that the mothership is certainly not that strong. It actually would have been destroyed easily by 3 Battlecruisers. They only made it stronger then it will be for demonstration purposes.

Of course there'll be heroes, the only two questions are:
-will there be hero units in skirmish/custom games?
-will the heroes be as in WC3 (classes that level up), or simply a super strong commander unit (like in Dawn of War)?

I'm not certain about heroes being in custom/MP games. In Gamespy's previews, the developers clearly stated that the game was supposed to be focusing on multiplayer and competitive play. Adding heroes makes for another layer of balancing, which only makes things more difficult. Heroes should not be in custom games, except for those using "Use Map Settings".

It looks gorgeous, but since my PC is chock full of nothing I can only dream of what is out there in that big beautiful space-demon swamp. If only it were a console port... if only.
