Who commands the Merciless?

Just looking thorugh the pics Aayla posted - great job by the way - and there are a few pictures of the Merciless. It's an Aggressor-class ship.

http://www.gamed.nl/messages/32174.jpg)

I was wondering who commands it? I assume Tyber, but I could be wrong. Urai doesn 't really seem like a pilot to me - he'd have to put his blades down. :nut:

I also can't watch those three MTV trailers, are they able to be downloaded directly? Then maybe hosted in the empireatwar.net media section? :naughty:

Though I don't know about the Merciless, for the MTV trailers, they can't be shown outside the USA due to copyright restrictions. :(

Sure they can, I can see them without problems and I live in Norway. I posted a couple of direct links in the other thread, the one started by Sageking-PG; try those.

And as for the Merciless, I too assumed it was Tyber's ship.

You are correct - the Merciless is Tyber Zann's flagship.

Normal Aggressor-class destroyers have the "self destruct" ability, obviously Tyber wouldn't blow himself up so there must be a substitute ability for the Merciless. Does anyone know what it is?

I haven't read anything about it anywhere, but it will probably be something underhanded and nasty. :D

The Merciless has a cloaking generator, and also has Blast (a high-powered shot from the main cannon that is pretty nasty; usually a one-hit kill for a hard point or smaller ships).

Learn to use Proxy :)

Urai seems powerful in ground combat, and I wonder if he also gets to swap out his blasters, or use some dashing/uppercutting kick.

I would love to see a "starfighter zooming" Urai, if only for fun. A Z-95 IS FINE TOO. Just stick him in a fighter, PLEASE!!!!!!!!

No, I am not asking for a "Barrel Roll" special ability, nor will I ask for a team of pilots consisting a froghead, hot foxy chick, that starfox dude and a guy with long ears. But PLEASE give him a starfighter.

OK cool, thanks. That white logo on the Consortium ships is pretty awesome.

Also, I just watched the MTV videos - thanks for the direct link Anarch - and a thought struck me.

What sort of gun does Tyber have on the ground? Damn that thing is powerful! :blaze6:

Thanks, that's awesome! Good to know he's not alone in using large energy shotgun-pistols!

So, from what we've seen so far, if the Consortium loses Tyber, they're stuffed. I wonder how long his recharge time is in GC? They need him on land, in space, and on the galactic level.

Looks awesome!

Just one question on the whole flagship thing:

In Empire at War, when Boba Fett/Darth Vader are on a planet, Slave I/Tie Advance isn't in space anymore.

This won't happen with these big flagships i.e. merciless/executor, right?

Also, you will have to pay for these, right?

Otherwise, it would be kinda stupid. I mean, the executor just vanashing into thin air just to put a sith lord on the planet?

I just wanted to make sure.

It probably will, although I see your point. You'll just have to decide where Vader is most useful in case of a sudden attack, in space or on the ground.

While it makes no real-world logical sense, it is required for in-game logic. In other words, yes, the ships disappear when you put the hero on the ground. The Executor needs to be purchased, the Merciless is spawned/free (though in the story campaign you have to work up to it).

Ah, you have to purchase the Executor. Excellent. Just having it handed to you for free would have been disappointing.

Well. That sucks.

I mean, in Return of the Jedi, Vader isn't even on the Executor half the time. He's either on Endor or on the Death Star.

Well, poo, i'll just have to XML piett to be in total command of the executor while having vader fly around independently in his little tie fighter.

BTW, in the tie fighter games he does fly in a tie defender. I'm pretty sure that the executor is operational at this point.

wait wait...confused lol?!? When you get Vader in tech level 5 and don't purchase the Executor, does that mean he will be in his Tie Advanced untill you choose to purchase it?
 Darth Anarch

I'm betting it means you won't get Vader as a hero until you purchase the Executor.

Oh, and in the canon Vader flies an experimental TIE Advanced/x1, equipped with a hyperdrive.

I think this will be the case as well, but they could just have Vader arrive at Tech level 4 and have him float around in space like the emporer.

EDIT: I just realised how silly that sounds.

But not Impressive Enough.

I can't wait trying out the Phase 3 Darktroopers. They seem huge also, but then again all models in E@W are not proportional, or the troopers would be so hard to see.

Speaking of the level 3 DarkTroopers... in one of the MTV videos you could see one of them doing something like firing wrist lasers. Do they have wrist lasers, or for that matter any weapons other than the shoulder-launched rockets?

I'm not too sure, but wrist lasers are cool and dark troopers are supposed to be walking weapons platforms, so I can deal with that. Plus, are you going to argue with them - 2 meter tall engines of destruction? :D

I agree, those darktroopers look awesome. By far the best new Imperial ground units in my opinion.

The phase 1 darktroopers will probably operate like the royal guards in EAW. I expect that their shields will repel blasterfire as well.

The phase 2 darktroopers seem like the perfect counter to the annoying rebel infiltrators with those powerful blaster cannons that they carry. The jetpacks will help with retreating back to Imperial repair stations in addition to pursuing fleeing enemies.

Those hulking phase 3 darktroopers seem like the perfect swiss army knife. When defending a planet they can be used to foil enemy vehicle and infantry assaults alike, thanks to their diversity of weapons. When attacking a planet they can use their jetpacks to reach distant targets quickly without worrying about resistance along the way.

I can't wait to use these new Imperial toys in the expansion! :dtrooper: :dtrooper: :dtrooper:

I wonder how the Merciless is gonna stand up against the new and improved Home One? In fact, it will be quite interesting to see how the consortium's shield-leeching ability will stand up against the rebels' shield regeneration ability - definitely wanna see who comes out on top against that!

Well, depending on if you or the enemy as the Consortium has bought the sheild leeching tech from the Black Market (which I assume will be expensive), then I see a very interesting fight. I think that it would be a balanced fight because depending on who plays their cards right, either can be the victor.
