I have a computer running Ubuntu Linux (a Debian based distro). Would I be able to play Jedi Outcast on it?

As far as I know you only can run a server on linux.

Yeah I don't think they make a linux version of the game.

That said, it is still possible to run the game on a linux machine depending upon what software you get a hold of and all that stuff. Looks like this guy got it to work with Debian.

Nope, only the things that really are. And it appears that stuff based on the Q3:Arena engine (JKII, RtCW, etc) run better under Linux that Doze. Ya got a problem with that? Fine, go argue with the benchmarks. They won't care.

Wierd that it was on mrcranky.com....looks like some kind of store. It is possible to play JK2 on linux, whether you can get everything to work depends on your distribution and your savvy.

I couldn't really find anything on Ubuntu doing a quick search... just look around. : )

Maybe it's possible to run JO with WineX. But I think you'll need a certain version for it (->google). I doubt there are any linux binaries for JO.
I think the q3/rtcw patches provide some linux binarys though.

JO and JA run pretty good in Linux, like most Q3 games as stated before. Besides a few binds being out of whack, installing may be your only real problem. Cedega is a program that'll neatly arrange things into a little GUI for ya', but will cost $15 out of the gate.

Try WineX, and this tutorial on how to install JA will work for JO as well.

Got JO to run on suse 10.1 using nothing but wine-0.9.19 and winetools. The JO installer doesnt work for some reason (the q3 installer does), so I installed/updated it via lan on a samba share. Maybe you just could copy the jk2 folder from Windows as well. Anyway the performance is good.
