Ok, I have no idea how to mod...but id like to see someone do this...if possible.

Among many other mods this game could use like (IMP corvetes, neb bs, carraks to replace tartans at tech level 3, and drednaughts at tech 1) I think some imperail starfighters should definately be added.

Example. Interceptors and gunboats at tech 3 (along with bwing for reb), TIE avenger, TIE defender at tech 4 (along with ewing for reb). At tech 4, Darths TIE X1 replace with TIE defender with TIE fighter escort (BUT they dont hyper in with vader. You have to call for wingman right at outset of battle).

More ideas to come......

Oh, make the squadrons hella expensive for TIE defender(give them ION cannon special) .. and ewing, moderate pricing for tie advanced, and gunboat.

MORE ON INTERCEPTOR
Ok, so the interceptor (stats like xwing w/ no special) will replace half of the TIE fighter compliment on the VIC and IMP star dest only. Note: Drednaught should have only 1 group of TIE Fighters.

POP CAPS
The reinforcement pool should allow as many of whatever you want. BUT, you may only have 2 goups of Gunboats(4 fighters per group) in a battle at once, 2 groups of TIE advanced (4 fighters per group), and only 1 group of TIE defenders (6 fighters per group, not including Darths group). Once they are destroyed you may bring in more to max out the cap until they too are destroyed.

Someone with more knowledge on NR fighters should talk about the stats for the ewing/ bwing.

3 things:
1. Try not to double post. If someone is interested they will come. Like me.
2. We can't make new ships yet. End of story. We can make them to use different skins and just have them looking odd, but that just isn't good.
3. I don't believe we can set how many of certain units appear.

I agree on 1. and 2. but I have to differ on 3., I think this is actually possible... but I think it only works in skirmish. Guess someone has to find out.

It should be possible to spawn additional kinds of fighters from a ship, from what I've seen in the Capital Ship files. Still, without the ability to insert models/icons properly, how will you know the difference between the two?

But there is an eventual possibility to someday make addition models and skins and then insert them with specials? Right?

Well, there is one thing that we have going for us concerning this mod, the tie advanced model is in the game already, its just known as Darth Vader's tie fighter, the trick would be to make it where you could deploy a squadron of them rather then one and a complement of standard ties, and then give it the ion cannon from the y-wing, the problem is that I have no clue how you would even start this mod.

Another thing that would be nice would be a realistic change for the x-wing replace the lock s-foils special (because for the x-wing to fire the s-foils have to be locked already) and replace it with an alternative fire mode that gives them torpedoes, the x-wing can carry 6 so it should have a long reset between shots. But concerning any tie's that we mod into the game, they should not be buildable from stations (except the ones that have built in hyperdrives) but should be an upgrade that you can do during the space battles, like the stations can. But on the star destroyers.

I beg to differ good sir. In reference to the TIE Advanced, I actually mean "avenger".
The model in the game for Vaders TIE is the prototype Advanced x1. Only a handful were made and they were in reality a piece of crap starfighter. It offered not much over the TIE fighter besides the Hyperdrive. In essence, that starfighter served as a test platform for all the more expensive imperial "advanced" TIE product lines. Vader droped the X1 all together after the first TIE defenders were made for the Empire.
