widescreen streched or true widescreen?

I wonder if the widescreen option is a "true" widescreen or a streched version of the normal view. is the game supporting e.g. 1900x1600 resultion?

I think the widescreen option is meant for computers with a widescreen. I'm pretty sure it even says that when you hover the mouse over that option.
