Dart was the main character, but doublefine had the mafia kill him and Raz took over.

I think D'Artagan looked awesome in concept, but when he was in three whole dimensions, he just looked weird.

In an alternate dimension Dart was the one who snuck into WR instead of Raz. However in that dimension DF was run by Shim Vader (who looks exactly like Tim except has a more evil bear and a Dick Dastardly moustache) seeing as DF is not run by an evil madman bent on world destruction and instead by an evil madman bent on sea-monkey destruction Raz took Dart's place.

He's actually in the game, however briefly. In the closing movie, watch carefully as the camera pans over the car park - he's the blue one in the Outhouse!
HEY I saw something on tv about the making of psychonauts they did all this work on dart and when they sent it in they hated dart and so raz had to take over.
feel kind of bad for dart though.
The only thing i thought was wrong with him in 3D was the eyes, and I'm not entirely sure why. otherwise he'd have been great.

I also head on G4tv's Icons, that the color of Dart's skin would hurt the player's eyes after awhile.

It was. But luckily I can turn any typo into an advantage.

Well looking at the two characters, Dart and Raz, I can say that Raz is easier on the eyes as Dart greatly contrasts most of the settings, except for the Milkman's World where he would mostly likely blend in.
Raz's look also is more "pleasing" to look at as he is a more attractive model than Dart, who while interesting in concept, obviously doesn't fit in the Psychonauts world.
And Raz's model gave way to his backstory which I found very interesting. Also gave us the Meat Circus...which I personally loved.
