This one's for all of you with AlliEd.

I'm trying to get a pair of escort shuttles to "board to capture" a type 3 platform, but after hypering in from another region they will only start moving toward the platform if I also give them an order to attack the gun/warhead launchers that are placed around the platform.

When I create a skirmish I can assign these roles without any difficulty, but in AlliEd it's a whole different ball game. The platform is always blown up by my various fighter squadrons before the shuttles can capture it. Suggestions, please?

Just as an aside, the process of creating multiple region missions is a lot more taxing than I thought it would be.

If the platform is being blown up by fighters, check to see that the fighters have an order to disable the platform, not attack it. And the shuttles probably won't start the capture until the station is disabled.

You might also try the mission editing forum at www.xwlegacy.net) (http://www.xwlegacy.net) & you might get more help there.

The fighters accompanying the escort shuttles have orders to attack Imperial fighters first and Imperial capital ships second. The platform takes pot shots at them and they respond in kind after the platforms fighter screen is down. Come to think of it, the Y-wings start attacking the platform and keep on attacking it from the get go. Their orders are to attack Imp capitals, then Imp fighters. Maybe I'll increase the number of TIEs stationed at the platform in order to keep the Alliance fighter busy. I don't recall seeing an order of "attack to disable" in the dropdown box on the order tab. I'll have to look again. As I said, it's a lot easier creating skirmishes, but they're not nearly as satisfying.

The order is not 'Attack to disable'. It's just plain 'Disable'. http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/smile.gif)

You can also issue the "disable" commands to crafts that are not equipped with ion cannons. The difference is that they'll attack until the target's shields drop to zero.

Well, the two squadrons of Y-wings are set to "disable" and armed with ion pulse missles, but I'm afraid the platform is still being destroyed. Those stubborn escort shuttles aren't "boarding to capture", either. They'll attack the gun/warhead launchers and shoot at the platform when it fires upon them, but I have yet to see them attempt to "board to capture" the platform.

Perhaps it's time to start over...

Set the Ywings and the Shuttles to 'disable targets'.

For the shuttles, have the second order be, "Board to Capture". Add a jump order to it---- %100 of Plarform 'blah' must be disabled---. That should get those Shuttles to lay off.
