When ever I run the DXDiag.EXE in the XWA folder I find some DX files that are either missing or old versions:

ddraw16.dll
ddraw.vxd
d3dim.dll
d3drm.dll
d3dxof.dll
d3dpmesh.dll
are all old files and need to be updated.

These files are all missing:

dxsetup.exe
dsetup.dll
dsetup16.dll
dsetup32.dll

My computer came with DirectX 7.0
I recently installed DirectX 8.0a
I suppose the lightspeed graphic is affected by the files missing in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool found in the X-Wing Alliance folder.
Is there away to replace the missing files?

Your looking at the wrong dxdiag look in your program files under directx... for some reason they put a version of dxdiag.exe from version 6 in the xwing alliance dir...
