Who will you play as? The guerilla warfare Rebels? Or the overwhelmingly Imperials? Personally, I'll take the the Empire.

Well, ultimately I'll end up playing both of course. But for the first time through I'll probably go Rebel. I like a game with a feeling of reasonable hopelessness. (Hoping EaW pulls it off right.) Then I'll go Empire, as for who I would normally play in MP, well, I think I'll only be able to decide that after experimenting with both sides.

Empire!!!

Rebels are bantha fodder.

Bepo that's just another way of saying I'm going to see which side is more overpowered and I'll play that one :p

I'll take Rebels because of the starfighters and guerilla tactics.
It's always fun to ambush people :)

You don't seriously believe you will be using stealth tactics and ambushes online do you?

Why not? The game encourages it, and the Alliance is especially adept at it in the game, so it'd be a waste not to do so. For example, you can hide fighters behind asteroids and ambush unwary imperial transports.

I'll play the tutorial first, then we'll see. I picked the Imperials, though, as they have this "mighty" feel to them and some awesome equipment.

Empire, mainly because of the mighty Star Destroyers and walkers. Though I will play the Rebels once in a while.;)

I'll be p0laying Empire from the looks of things they'll have the strongest eco meaning that I can use my juggernaut strategies to destroy you all like I have before.

I would imagine that in online games, very advanced players would use the Rebels to slowly defeat players using the Empire...but I'll use Empire nonetheless.

I think they'd be more likely to try and hit hard and fast early on before the empire player climbs too high up the tech tree.

I imagine and hope the Imperials will be like the Germans in Empires: DOTW. You had to keep them in check early on, or they'd start producing Tiger Tanks and V-2 rockets and all that other devilry, and then it was game over:D .

Yeah, luke, long time no see. I come here occasionally to see if any major news has been posted about the game and I post on some threads. Im just burned out on idle speculation about this game, having done it for more than 2 years over at the GB board and theres a certain other RTS thats been getting more press and more updates thats been taking my time. Once real big information comes (perhaps at E3?), Ill be a more common visiter.

(PS: I liked your old avatar(s?) better);)

Yeah, my old avatars were better, but I'll stick to this one for now. E3 starts tomorrow I think. We'll get some new info soon enough.

Well I'm kind of in a pickle here as I will play as both Imperials and Rebels. I will probably play more with the rebels simply because I love their starfighters and starfighters will play a fairly large role in my strategies in space.

Imperials... I like "heavy" things... Star Destroyers, AT-AT's, plus I like aesthetics and the Empire really has that going for them.

Online, I'd play rebels. I love ambush tactics.

Oh, by the way, to the person saying that there might not be ambush tactics online: this game seems to be a little bit like R:TW and that game has ambush tactics, in both campaign mode and battle mode, so it might be possible.

The Empire looks like it'll be able to do the most realistic Unit massing so if the Purist crowd start shouting Massing isn't Cannon NERF NERF NERF, then again though they'll shout it anyway since it's me :P

I will eventually do both, but first off imperials because of walkers, TIEs, SDs, they have all the cool looking stuff lol in my opinion.

Why would anyone be against unit massing for the Empire?

I still remember the Unit Massing Thread where we were arguing about Realistic Unit Massing V Unrealistic Massing.

I will probably play as the Rebel scum.

And realistic vs. unrealistic unit massing is rediculous. The point of strategy games is you can do things differently from the movies/history/developer-created backstory. If the Rebels want to try and field a massive infantry army and take the fight ot Coruscant, what's stopping them? If you want to spend your life reliving George Lucas's story, you can, but I want to do things differently.

and thus we have a convert away from the darkness of Neo Nazi Purism.

You could stop about your purism ****. It gets really annoying now.

Why not eh? If you want to try, try to field a massive army with the Rebels. You can try to pump out tons of troops if you want. Afterall, from the videos and screenshots, the Rebels seem to be able to amass a sizeable ground force.

The whole point of the game is to do it your own way. I agree with sithmaster cause if you want to make a huge rebel army, more power to you.
