export height map alter and reimport into editor

any one stuck with this one

export terrain as image (not high res as that just daft 256x256 65mb lol)

PS reads it comes out in green and red (greyscale is soooooooo much easier - not sure why its this wierd format)SO how do you reimport it back into the editor

I exported tried to reload the map as a TGA AS is !!!!!

and all I get is a flat terrain - the orignal had peaks and hills etcetc

any ideas

The height map is not supposed to be reimported back into Zeroedit, it is intended to act as a guide for painting the map of the level; the colors correspond to the height wireframe view mode colors.

Example: look at hoth_map.tga in the Assets, the terrain contours are painted around the edge of the map.

Hi

Yer but wouldnt it be a really neat thing to have to save oddles of time sorting out heigh maps

black as base greys as gradiants and white as peak

So simple UT2K4 has this and it makes terrain making simple and far more realistic. TErrain is not a painters job its a chaotic state of what ever goes. PS a couple of plugins and job done.

also

the TER and WLD format what other 3rd party tools support it. Ive tried lots of packages and they just do not like those formats.
