Don't anyone agrees with me that an X-wing's laser in the game should sound more realistic? Look at the Star Wars Triogy Arcade game. It had the most realistic X-Wing laser sound I ever heard.

I was also under the impression they weren't really lasers...

Some plasma thing or something.

They sound fine to me. Maybe it's your sound card or speakers. My Aureal Vortex and 300 watt Zoltrix sound system sounds great!

Well, my Creative SB Live & Teac PowerMax 2000 are pretty close to the Mutts Nuts, but I agree and still think the X-Wing lasers sound a bit lame...

Laser sounds can make a different. As if makes the astmosphere more convincing. For instance while I was playing the original X-Wing, the laser sounds of the X-Wing and TIE Fighter are terrible, but when playing X-Wing Alliance. The sound of the TIE Fighter is soo realistic, the X-Wing greatly improve too. However if only somehow it can be sound more like the movie.

Maybe it's just the accelerator rings that produce the plasma "laser" bolts http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/biggrin.gif)

There's no sound in space but we would be Very unhappy if we couldn't hear the screaming of TIEs' engines, wouldn't we ? http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/cool.gif)

They're called laser weapons because the laser ignites a charged packet of spin-sealed blaster gas. The blaster's focussing coils then focus the released energy in a certain direction. The sound you hear is the sound of the gas igniting and being forced out the emitter.

Listien to the opening cutscence (where there is a Lucasart logo with an X-Wing chasing the TIE) and the other cutscence with the Azzameen.
