Chained Force Lightning mod released.

Two beam effects to choose from:
Download (lightning beam) (http://www.pcgamemods.com/9598)
Download (shock beam) (http://www.pcgamemods.com/9635)
(PCGM links down...)

Download from Lucasfiles.com (http://www.lucasfiles.com/?s=&action=file&id=1321)

Have you ever thought Force Lightning and Force Storm were just a little too much alike? This mod makes Force Lightning behave significantly different. The lightning now chains from one enemy to another with diminishing power in each arc. It's most effective on groups of 3 or more enemies where you can get a "closed-circuit", causing multiple zaps.

Damage:
First arc: 1d6 per Jedi level of best Jedi class (max: 10d6)
Subsequent arcs: diminished by 1d6 for every arc after the 1st

Range:
17m per arc

This mod consists of just a single .ncs file: k_sp1_generic.ncs. Up until now, I don't think any other mod distributes that .ncs file (including AIOFPM). So it should be compatible with just about everything.

What else would you expect from someone with a Tesla avatar?
Brilliant! :D Definitely in my override!

Question. Since this affects the behavior of Force Lightning, will this take affect on characters that already have this power, or would I (we) need to start a new game? I assume it'll take affect once installed...but ya' never know ;)

everytime I look at your avatar tk, I have the sudden urge to :guiness: hehehe

@Chainz.2da: Yes, the effect is immediate.

@Piece of Metal: I put a 0.2 sec delay between the arcs and each has its own sound, so you should be able to see the bounce. Lightning is kind of a 'messy' beam effect, so it's not as distinct as say the ending of Raiders of the Lost Arc. :)

Thanks for the feedback! Let me know if you think it's under- or overpowered. I spent as much time trying to balance it as I did coding it.

Very nice job! How would I modify the spells.2da table from the AIOFPM to allow my character to have both Force Lightning and Force Storm without overriding Lightning when leveling up?

@Bimmerman850CSi:

1. Open up the override version of spells.2da in KotOR Tool.

2. Locate FORCE_POWER_FORCE_STORM on row 25.

3. Change forcehostile number to 33 (something no other force power uses).

4. Change prerequisites field to **** (might not be necessary).

5. Change pips field to 1.

Save. That should do it. Someone chime in if I'm mistaken.

What about the "shock" effect, wouldn't that be "cleaner"?

Nice work all the same. :)

Not a bad idea Mono. I'll check that out. If it looks much better I'll re-release it that way. Thanks!
