Just a quick sample shot of some models I'm making to be used in some capacity for the contest. You guess the location:

Shot 001 (http://www.digi-phoenix.com/jaShots/theed001.jpg)

The models are untextured, and will probably been seen from afar (most likely as part of the skybox). Comments and crits welcome.

Two new buildings (http://www.digi-phoenix.com/jaShots/theed002.jpg)

A few more and I'll have enough to mix them up without anyone noticing they're the same building.

Thanks for all the nice comments.

Here's a couple more shots - the first one shows the start of the palace compound (and its size in relation to the rest of the buildings), and the second one shows off a little more detail:

so will you just use these models in the skybox or will they actually be placed as mapobjects?

These models will be used in the skybox because they're high-poly; however, a few low poly versions might find their way into the map as map objects.

awe that sucks, i was hoping youd actually get to play that part of theed :(

Those models are way too high-poly to be used in-game. Don't worry, though - you'll be playing a section of Theed which I hope you'll find just as enjoyable.

I thought those looked a bit high on the ol' pc :P

Looks good though so far. Can't wait to see how you make the rest of the map.

I'm glad to here its a ffa map instead of a boring duel map that no one plays :P

Also, how are you going to incorporate those models into the sky? I don't understand.

Portal sky, I'm sure. Either that or Eldritch will use one of his sick CG rendering programs. But, probably, he will do both. :)

if your going to make Theed remember that (at least in SWG) behind the palace there is a cliff and at the right of the palace theres a river which ends in a waterfall in that cliff

Wedge, if he's doing a portal sky, the FPS issue will just be greater.

These models will be used in the skybox images.

Other, lower poly versions might be used as part of the portal sky in order to keep the FPS manageable.

And the "sick CG rendering program" is, as always, 3DS Max.

I'm not going to make all of Theed, since that just wouldn't be possible - however, there will be what I hope is a very enjoyable chunk of it, big enough to hold around 8 players.

Sorry that this thread has been so quiet lately, but all my energy had been focused on other things so mapping was a little neglected.

But with that taken care of, things are back in full swing and I just wanted to show off a new building that will be featured in the map. It hasn't been incorporated into the whole map yet (which there will be no shots of - I want everyone to be surprised when they see it on submission day), but I guess I just wanted to show that I'm still working on this map!

Enjoy (http://digi-phoenix.com/jaShots/theed006.jpg)!)

Hey Eldritch, any chance you could loan me your buildings when you finish your map? I've been working on a MB2_Theed map but my building skills are still very noobish.

http://moviebattles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1339)

As you can see in the pics down the way, my map looks a little boxy, also the people on the forums are looking forward to the map pretty badly as you can see in the latest posts.

I'm thinking of dropping the contest, this Theed map im working is taking all my attention, and I dont really feel like mapping my tropical map at the moment.

Eldritch did you decide not to continue making this Naboo map? Just wondering since it has been quiet for so long.

Man I really would have loved to see this one finished.

Right now Eldritch is cooperating in a small SP project with me. He is handling all the mapping, architectural design and texturing for the project.

Just to let you know, in case he doesn't personally happen to pop in to post any details here...

I guess that means he did quit the Naboo map then? Bummer, aside a new Coruscant map a large detailed map of Naboo was what I was most looking forward to.

Thanks for the info Lassev.

youknow' there is something besides the term "death". No one would propably ever drop such a big project.

It can just occur that you temprorary set your focus upon other stuff, maybe even other projects until you have the ambition and new spirit to finish up the "old" stuff.

However, I just tend to not come to hasty conclusions.

Wrong again. My part in the project with lassev has been completed, with the exception of a final compile (we're waiting on a few sounds files as well). I'm not sure where all your hostility towards me is coming from Mongo, but it's misplaced.

Nope. Look below. ;)

Pahricida's statement is actually pretty close to the truth -- it was a combination of having to go to work for long hours each day (killing the drive for any additional work when I got home), and just having other things that took priority.
Thanks to everyone for their support.

Here's your reward - to be released soon, after I fix a few things and run a final compile (which will up the level of lighting, amongst other things):

Great to see this project is still going strong, really look forward to this one.

If you can make Naboo look this good I wonder what you could do with Coruscant.
