I noticed this when I first got the game, but for some reason I've never bothered to mention it. Anyway, if you check out the original manual you'll notice this little area in it:

See that bottom screenshot? That camera angle doesn't actually appear in the game. Bgbennyboy also once sent me these angles, which also don't appear in the game - but exist within the resource files.

Well, your right. Iam suprised by the second image. I think that it was indended to be like that in the game.

Isn't the last angle used when Manny and Glottis board the ship at the end of year 2?

Even if it is, it still isn't the same as normal backgrounds. They were probably going to allow you to walk around on that scene, but they removed that bit of code, but left the backdrop in the resources.

Basically, that was going to be used in the game as something you can walk on, but that was cancelled. But you can get a glimpse of that angle in the cutscene. So it is still a hidden angle ;)
