Hi all,

I've got a generic 4-button joystick with a hat. The stick is fully reconized by win 98, all 4 buttons show response, etc. Furthermore I can use the joystick to navigate the menus in the game and choose a ship. HOWEVER...The game only recognizes one button. (and worse) As soon as a level begins and I need to fly the stick has no effect. I can fire my primary weapon, but cannot turn the ship with the joystick. I have tried "control-j" and can see that it affects the ability to fire the weapon, but has to effect on ability to control flight. Also played with "control-m" to turn the mouse off, no effect.

It's very disappointing. Why does the stick work in the "menu mode" but not in the actual game? What can i do?

Happy to provide more detail if needed.

DirectX7a was put out to correct problems with joysticks and other input devices. Get version 7a of DirectX at Microsoft and give it a shot.

Yep sure does! But it is loose and that messes up some of my Mario Party games... Well I guess I can't talk about that because this is a Rogue Squadron Message Board!
