IGN asks us the following:
"Which of our Missing In Action games would you most like to play?"

You all know what to do. Make us heard.

It was under 18% when I voted. Good to see it make some headway.

I can understand the sentiment for Baldur's Gate 3, but IMO the series wrapped itself up completely and finally at the end of Throne of Bhaal, and there's no reason to continue the story. Another game with similar design and equally epic storyline on a revamped engine would be nice, but not a direct sequel.

What baffles me is the support for Duke Nukem Forever. I thought that most people stopped caring about that YEARS ago.

I stopped caring for Duke when it went 3D in mid-90s. The sidescrollers were awesome, the 3Ds are horrid.

GO VOTE SAM AND MAX 2!

From the article, it looks like it was going to be totally unrelated to the previous games, which makes me wonder why they would call it Baldur's Gate, except to ride upon the success of the first games. Fie on that. Let it stand on its own merits!

This is just a daily poll right? it went from being 5th to BUSTING into 1st. Bravo everyone, bravo.

Well how about that....! 28.4% last time I checked. I gotta tell you all how pleased I am at this level of response. But we can't stop here - THESE are the things that lucasarts'll sit up an' take notice of; official polls of people LIKE IGN etc. They probably won't uncancel S&M2, but if we can double the figures of it's closest rival before the poll ends (DN:Forever?! I thought they stopped production on that after the cold war ended....), then they won't be able to kid themselves of the fact that they've made an almost impressively massive mistake any longer.

Oh an' er PS: to whoever said the following:
"Someone also might have votespammed."

Well hopefully nobody has, but even if cheating is afoot then who cares! really! Let's not forget that the only reason we're doing this is because those suits at LA Cheated US out of a tremendous game in the first place(!!)

Good luck all, an' keep voting!

PPS: Apologies for using the word "afoot". Let's hope I never have to again....

Could someone enlighten me as to where exactly the poll is?

The link leads to the ign main page where the article about games MIA is linked, but I can't find the poll.

It's on the main page at http://pc.ign.com/) -- at the bottom, to the right. It's still up there, with Freelance Polce at 33.3%.

I've taken a screenshot. I'll be printing it out and mailing it to LA along with a few magazine scans.

*cry* I went to vote for Sam and Max 2 on the poll, but then it told me that the it contained no data..... maybe I'll try again later.....

On a funny note, in the picture of the M.I.A games on IGN's homepage, why does Duke Nukem look like a Drew Carry Wanna be?

Thanks, indeed I was blind.

S&M 2 at 34.2%

I think everybody should write a letter or an email to LA right now, informing them on the poll. This will show them we still care even weeks after the press release.

I'm writing an email at the moment.

Still at 35.6 at this moment. I'm taking regular snapshots, until the poll disappears or until I'm ready to compose my mail (postal, not email). I will be including a screenshot of the poll, as well as the IGN MIA article on Sam & Max and a number of other web articles and links.

I'm looking to see if LucasArts has shareholders. If so, I'd like to send stuff to them.

Beat ya too it... I can't seem to find them though. Keep looking.

If we get to 40% we will have proven that there is a huge Sam and Max community. If we get to 50%, we will have proven that they have made a financial mistake by NOT releasing S&MFP.

The numbers have really gone up on this one. (I voted when it was a mere 18% for S&M) I hope they reflect real sentiment and not the work of a lone script kiddie spoofing IP addresses to vote multiple times. I wish they'd show the number of votes as well. Anything to give us hope helps.

37.5% now.

Realistically this poll will not chance anything. The video game industry isn’t like a clan or something, LucasArts is a business, and they have made a business decision. Yes it was based on poor research that only analyzed market sales rather than actual consumer support, but it doesn’t matter how ignorant the board of directors and the financial department of LucasArts were, with regards to the justification of the cancellation of the product, the fact of matter is that they have made a business decision. This was a bad business decision which is proving to tarnish their public relations with the community and their credibility as video game publisher. In fact considering their apathetic policy towards thousands of people displaying their outrage towards this decision through petitions, letters and phone calls, even a web site; by stating that there is not a market for their product is deplorable and clearly displays LucasArts as an incompetent organization.

Anyway I’m getting off track… My point is LucasArts has made a formal business decision, this means the lives of their employees are affected by this. This is not something where they can simply admit that they made have one of single biggest mistakes in the history of the company, and possibly the entire gaming industry, and just keep on making the game. No, if they did that the iron fist of suits of the company would be watered down, their authority would seem frail. So is it just a ego thing? Partly, but like I said lives are affected by this. There are contracts and other legal crap that comes with this sort of thing. To get this game going again would be embarrassing for the company and would require a lot of paper work.

IMO our only hope at this stage is that another publisher sees that LucasArts has thrown away a golden opportunity, and picks up Sam & Max. The likelyhood of that happening is slim...very slim... but I think it is possible… So keep voting, maybe, just maybe someone with authority will wake up…. I doubt it though. :(

Well I guess this is as good as it gets folks. Whoever said that this poll isn't really going to change anything is probably right. These big corps, stubborn as they are, aren't going to change their minds over something as trivial as obvious mass support (!) - Even if they do (finally) realise what a mistake they've made. It doesn't look likely that any of the poll's rivals'll catch up to sam an' max now, which means that it doesn't matter if we get just 1 more vote or a million more; we prove either way that sam and max does indeed have the following it so rightly deserves. On a deeply hateful and unsavoury note though, isn't it annoying how "Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude" - which gets called an adventure game (Hey - just like Freelance police would've been!) - gets to be made into a brand new game. And i'll bet it sells. And Then lucasarts'll have to come up with a better excuse than "because it wouldn't've sold...".

The madness....I may weep openly if I wasn't busy twitching my right eye.

At any rate, tremendous thanks to all who voted correctly. Even if it doesn't make a difference, at least we'll all know that FOR THE RECORD, the people wanted Freelance Police more than anything else that got canned this year.

Whoa, you sure put an optimistic spin of this situation.

I agree with you. Even though the likelihood of this poll changing anything is extremely low, we have proven LucasArts wrong…dead wrong. We have shown them that there is a market and that this game would have sold, and sold very well for that matter. So even though we must live with the reality that LucasArts has killed Sam and Max and the once risk takers of the industry have now been reduced to making dozens of Star Wars prequels, we can still get the stratification in knowing that LucasArts has egg all over their face thanks to us and our protests!

I want to weep this is so depressing. :(

You're right. This poll probably won't be noticed by Mike Nelson or anybody else there at LoonyArts. But we, the fans, can now laugh at them, because now we have more than enough concrete proof that "Sam and Max Freelance Police" could rake them in more money than any Star Wars game they can barf up.

The chances of the game coming back are still there, no matter how slim it seems, but we've done all we can do by sending petitions and pre-orders. We just have to wait for Lucasarts to make their decision. I don't care what it looks like right now. Lucasarts could turn everything around in a heartbeat, just like that.

But you do ahve the fact that it is still in production right...
