x-men question

not the movie, i don't think, but a comic question.

You see, my favorite character is Rogue (followed shortly by Shadowcat). I've never read any X-Men comic or anything beyond watching the cartoon back in the mid-90s and watching X-Men Evolution every night. Whilst reading up on the various Marvel character bios earlier, I was presented with this picture of Rogue:

http://mywebpage.netscape.com/RainKing%20nbc/rogue6.gif)

For some reason, I really like this costume design more than any of the other things I've seen them have Rogue running around in. So my question would be: what series is this from?

I think that might just be a costume redesign. I could be dead wrong, but I've seen it in promotional ads and stuff and never in comic form. It might be. I'll look it up.

It looks kinda like her Evolution costume, only with yellow instead of green.

It also looks like everyone else's costumes in Ultimate X-Men, but I'm told Rogue doesn't appear in those comics.
It also appears that that picture appeared on the cover of a Rogue miniseries in 2001 that sucked. That sucks.

I've never seen her wear anything like that in the comics. But then again, I haven't read any X-Men comics for about a year or two now... -___-

yeah, that's a pretty cool pic of rogue, nute. personally, tho, my favourite rogue appearance was of her in the 'Rogue in shower (with movable taps and real liquid!)' action figure.... damn, she's hot!

That's the best Rogue. She's 'partying' with someone I forget the name of.

Mystique's alias in that form is "Risty," I believe.

Personally, I prefer the "X-Grrrls" version:

<3 rogue and kitty

At first, I hated Evolution but then it grew on me. I like how Rogue doesn't have all the stolen powers and only has her one power. It always seemed to me that they didn't know what to do with Rogue, so they made her fly and be invulnerable. The Evolution version that takes someone's power all the time is much better.
Though, I must say I find myself being an, uh, armchair Professor X and yelling at them all the time, such as "kitty should just phase her hand into Magneto's brain and **** **** up!", "why don't you just stab Sabretooth in the face already." or, in the case of Iceman, "the silver surfer called. he wants his gimmick back." And in spyke's case "why doesn't he just go away. YOU SUCK SPYKE."

Yeah. That'll . . . slow him down and p*ss him off.

Healing factor.

or, in the case of Iceman, "the silver surfer called. he wants his gimmick back."

Actually, it's Iceman's gimmick --he was using it back in the 80s in Spiderman and his Amazing Friends (the one with Firestar, Iceman, and Spidey having a tricked-out secret lair in Parker's room :roleyess: ).

Does Iceman's "i'm riding around on ice" predate the Silver Surfer? I always hated both so i have no idea.

I've always found Wolverine and Sabretooth's "i can heal myself" stuff to be over-rated. I have my doubts that a face stabbing and subsequent decapitation is within their ability to heal.

Well, the Silver Surfer came out of the '60's, back when surfing first became a fixure in pop-culture.

http://marvelite.prohosting.com/surfer/history/index.html)

So my wildest guess is that the Silver Surfer was first.

Prof X once said that the only to kill Wolverine would be to cut off his head and move it far, far from his body.... ick.

I second the ick. o.O;

Now I'm curious, though, does Wolvie have his admantium skeleton back in the current comics? I'm terrible at keeping up ^^

I believe he does. Which is worth knowing. With Greg Rucka and Darick Robertson taking over, Wolverine's solo title is about to become readable for the first time in... probably ever.

And Iceman was part of the original X-Men lineup, and is therefore also a product of the sixties. I'm still pretty sure the Surfer was first, though.

Larry Hama sucks ass. I used to really enjoy his Wolvie stories. Even the "losing the adamantium bit" was a pretty cool idea, at first, but then it just got way outta hand. If they had somehow givien it right back to him, a few issues later, all would have been well.

The whole "feral Wolverine" thing was retarded. And the worst, worst move made by Larry, and where I lost all faith in him, was that stupid "bone claws" deal. -__-

It's one thing to be experimented on by some government and implanted with razor sharp knives as weapons, it's another thing to be apparently born with a couple sets of super-sharp bones that reside, for some reason, sheathed in your forearms that you can pop out at will. That's just a little too unbelievable, even for me.

It was believable when his only mutation was a healing factor. And that his healing factor was the reason for him getting the claws and skeleton.

That whole thing just really pissed me off, and that's the point where I stopped reading Wolvie and X-Men.
¬_¬

Err, so, how did he get the adamantium back, then?

I couldn't tell you, I think it happened during my own sabbatical from reading Marvel comics, although it was The Clone Saga and all its acompanying wretchedness which drove me away. I think it may have had something to do with Apocalypse, but don't quote me on that.

This was a Spider-Man story, not X-Men. The Spider-Man who had been appearing in the Spider titles since the mid 70s was revealed to actually be a clone. The convoluted mess of a story that ensued dragged on for years, ending with the resurrection of Spider-Man's best villain, the Green Goblin. Completely cheapening his excellent death in the process. Horrible, horrible stuff.

Nute-
that pic of rogue u have at the starter post of this thread belongs to marvels's RECHARGE collectible card game...caught sight of it when reading my cousin's brotherhood #4 comic. i think the costume was especially created for the deck of cards alone.... btw, they've got some pretty hot pictures of jean, psylocke & storm as well.

i like x-men, but i don't read the comics...just watch the movies & the evolution series (which i think kix ass). less complicated...

The best X-MEN ever have to be back in the early 80s. Back beforethere was a rouge, gambit and what not.

The artistry was awesome. John Byrne(sp) and Chris Clarmont(sp) did alot of it.

I have just about all the comics from 1980-1986. And even some earlier ones. I'm not a very big fan of all the spin off series as well all thought I did start to collect them just so I could have them.

One of the best was when the fought Proteus. Moria McTaggerts son. That one was a great series. Think is was # 128-130 or something.

The best X-Men story was the Dark Phoenix Saga. Then the geniuses at Marvel resurrected Jean Grey, cheapening the whole story. Every X-Men comic since then has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Secret Wars and Infinity Gauntlet were the bomb.

Did anyone read that crossover series DC did with marvel? They were pretty cool, reading the interaction between the Joker and Spiderman was worth it.

It was also one of only two crossovers ever (that I know of) to be referred to after the fact, when DC's Blue Beetle once attributed something called "Impact Webbing" to a guy who "swung through recently from a parallel universe." Impact Webbing is of course one of Spiderman's toys.

The other crossover was the more recent Battle of the Planets/Thundercats. The good one, with the kawaii Wilykit/Keyop smooch (as opposed to the bad one, with the Jason/Cheetarah sexual-harassment-suit-waiting-to-happen). One of the BotP characters later referred to it as proof that not all aliens were monsters.

Nick Fury eh, Greatest Hero without powers, better then bat man :D. Ok so where do you want me to start, Nick Fury is an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, a goverment organization. In world War II he was Part of the Howling Commandos (he was with the army :p) He faugh twith people like Captain america to captain savage, to fight people like red skull, baron zero and the axis of evil.

Came out a few years ago --before the current crop of Marvel movies was around. Possibly around the same time that the first X-Men movie came out.

Mediocre, but then I'm not a big Marvel fan to begin with. Special effects that I recall weren't too bad, though nothing eye-popping or big-screen-worthy. Costume was half-decent without going the way of spandex --I can actually imagine this Nick Fury interacting with the movie X-Men.

Whatever Hasselhoff's acting style/ability, he very obviously enjoyed making it (which IMHO is one of the things that forgives mediocre acting).
