There are thousands of great sounds in SW. From humming lightsabers to roaring pod racers to defening seismic charges to the powerful engines of the Millenium Falcon, these great sounds have captivated us as much as the beautiful visuals, but which are your favorites?
I'm going with lightsaber, seismic charge, and TIE Fighter engine to name a few. What about you?
Well, I like all Star Wars sounds. Especially the good guy sounds.
Namely the lightsabers and all of the ships. :)
I hated the pod racer sounds. :(
But everything else is awesome! :D
well i think the TIE fighter is my most favorite sound... it just is so cool :D
I like the sound the boomers cannon's made in Bubblegum Crisis, episode: Moonlight Rambler when they were chasing Sylvie down the highway, it was kewl, kinda a REALLY bassy sound followed by a high pitched laser sound it was so kewl, I know I was impressed... *everyone looks at Lynk* oh yeah... Star Wars... um... yeah the seismic charges in ep2 and the twin ion engines of a TIE Fighter and the rattatta of it's lasers XD ehehehe
but seriously, those cannons the boomers were using sounded bloody awesome... *nods*
I like the sound of seicmic charges, TIE's(Which is a mix of an elephant and something else, which I can't remember!), the spaceships, the lightsabres, every sound adds the final touch to the movies after the (great) music!!
This is an easy one, I think I'll have to go with the lightsabers as my favorite. Second place in this are the siesmic charges and also I like the pod racers. :)

Darth Vader's raspy breathing is the clear winner here. The "vvvmmmmm" of a lightsaber is a distant second.

Ever notice that Vader's breathing and speach don't match up. Sometimes he's talking when he should be inhailing. Anyone have any ideas how his breath mask works if he can talk while both inhailing or exhaling?
Not SW but it's what made me buy a widescreen tv and 5.1 sterio: Godzilla stomping though Tokyo in Godzilla 2000.
By far my favorite sound is the sound of a seicmic charges.
Hmmm...I wouldn't say I have a favourite sound, but I think the most distinctive sounds from the Star Wars universe (the ones that make me instantly think of Star Wars)...are these...
1. Lightsabers
2. TIE fighters
3. Darth Vader's breathing
4. Chewbacca speaking
5. The BlasTech DL-44 firing

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. You try to inhale and talk normaly at the same time. You have to be breathing out in order to talk. But, vader can do it . Why is that?

I think Vader's respirator works independently from his talking.
He can do this since he probably can do both at the same time.

actually Reloaded used a star wars sound, when Neo whips through the buildings towards the end, you hear the screach of a tie fighter as he flies.
Then lucas film should sue Waner Bros
vader's breathing, siesmic charge, and lightsabers all rock! Oh, and sebulba's podracer.
p.s.: i thought vader's respirator breathed for him allowing him to talk at the same time without a pause.

seriously, i'd have to say the lightsabers humming sound.
and maybe Ben Burt's distinctive's "AAAAAAHHH!!" you can also hear in a lot of other movies.
I really like the sounds Republic Gunships/fighters make, their cool! I think they were taken from real life bombers, I'm not sure. Also obviously saber noises are cool too.

In that way they are unrealistic!

NOthing makes a sound in space, so any sounds you hear in space are unrealistic, but the films would be pretty boring without such sound effects wouldn't they. ;)
I love the sound of Tie fighters and also I like the noise droideka's make, when they open to attack.

The starfighters have audio-emulators that create a surround sound effect in the cockpit to assist the pilot in his/her dogfights. It's not always possible to stare at the sensors to see where the other starships are. Certain starship analogs along with their speed, bearing, course, and distance get certain sounds.
I just made that up. Actually it's as you say, the movie would be boring otherwise.
Personally, I liked the "sound of a thousand terrible things."
Seismic charges, hands down. I saw ATC at home the first time, with digital headphones on a top of the line JVC VCR...I haven't heard anything since. I have a helper monkey answer the phone for me, and now my appointments calendar is hopelessly screwed up.
My second favorite would have to be Amidala when I *Self edit* :D
